I raise my hand and wave like Arnold Horshak when asked all of the above. Ooooh! Oooh! Oooh!
I will never forget - when I was five years old, I woke up in the middle of the night (the middle of the night for a five year old being, probably, more like 10 or 11 o'clock) with horrible pains in my stomach. I went downstairs to find my mom and she and my dad were sitting very close together and talking. When they raised their heads to acknowledge my presence, it was clear that they'd both been crying. My grandmother had just passed away. In my five year old blissful ignorance, I hadn't even known that she was sick. I didn't know - cognitively, at least - what dying was. But I had a physical reaction to the loss. That's what I've always considered that pain to have been. Once I was told, my tummy felt better and I went back to sleep.
That was the first incident.
As an adult, I would often have really strong dreams about people I hadn't thought about in years. When I was pregnant with my first, I had several VERY strong dreams about someone I hadn't been friends with since elementary school. I became a little obsessed with this person I hadn't thought about in something akin to 25 years. A decade later, I've friended this person on Facebook and their profile and a few conversations revealed that they were going through some serious stuff around the winter of '95-'96. I never told them about the dreams. It would've appeared too weird and stalkerish.
I've taken to calling it radar love.
I know everyone has been on at least one side of the conversation wherein the person who is called or otherwise approached says, very sincerely:
"Oh my gosh, I was just thinking about you!"
We've got a line in the sky.
Recently I've been missing a friend who I ALWAYS miss, but for the last day or two it has been almost palpable. Turns out she's been needing me.
We've got a wave in the air.
I'm pretty sure this is something we all experience to some degree or another. And I think that's really cool.
I told you a couple of mine, I'd love to hear yours!

It's weird when things like that happen, isn't it?
I tend to dream about people that I haven't thought of in ages, and they somehow re-enter my life either by conversation or by actually happening upon them at the store, etc.
I had a dream the other night that the apartment building my wife and I lived in caught on fire. I woke up the next morning and found out that an apartment building not to far from where we used to live a few towns over had burned to the ground.
It was more than a bit creepy.
I'm glad you confirmed that this is universal. I think the human spiritual connection is magnificent! I have a very dear friend in England. I've only met with him face to face three times in 8 years, but we're connected by that invisible line. We call each other brother and sister and take care of each other as such. His texts seem to magically appear on my bad days, and I feel a heart tug on his bad days. I send him "Safe and Happy" checks on those days.

I know what you mean. An acquaintance, whom I usually see only during the summer swimteam months, lost her husband in June. I started thinking about her last week. Should I call? How weird would it be, since she and I were only summer buddies? Well, I've run into her 5 days in a row, and we've renewed our summer friendship. Radar something, at least!
i have something similar. isn't it great? great post. Hi from SITS.
Wow! That is insane. What a fantastic gift to have.
Tell me, are you vibing anything about me? Like maybe I will win the lottery soon or something? :)

I knew you were going to post this. ;-)
"just know - know with unshakable certainty - that something is going on with them?"
I do know exactly how that feels. Not only with people I haven't seen in a while, but even with people I see all the time.
I my mom gets depressed or if she is thinking about me a lot, I will feel it and then I call her. She always says, "How do you know!"
I love it because I know that if she really needs me I will feel it.
Oh I definitely have radar love. When I was a tween I suddenly said in my head 'my grandma just died' and the next minute the phone rang....
It's happened to me a lot...it's just like a sensing of someone's energy....then they appear. I like that :)
I was always a huge fan of Chris Farley, and I remember thinking about him and then waking up to find out that he had died; and this was way after the time he was on SNL so I wasn't recalling him from having recently seen him on TV. I remember being completely shocked.
Love your Arnold Horshak reference :-)
I've had those countless times...one particularly haunting one was when I was 13...we woke up at 2 a.m. to all of the alarms and buzzers in our house going off...and found out the next morning that one of my dear friend's sisters was in a terrible car accident...at 2 a.m. Weird!!
So weird...I was going through something and when I finally called my friend to tell her about it, she said that she had known something was going on, just wasn't sure what.
Sometimes you just have those connections, I guess.
I think my radar is broken because this type of thing never happens to me. The closest I've ever come was when my maternal grandmother died. She and I were very close. She was really more like a mother to me. She died during some very risky surgery. I was living on the other side of the country and my mom called and told me she had died at 10:32 that morning. Later that day I noticed that my watch at stopped at exactly 10:32 am. Somehow the little button you use to set the time had been pulled out and the watch stopped. I never did push that pin back in. It's still in my jewelry box, with pin pulled out and stopped at 10:32am.
I don't think that I have had that, but I love the way that you wove the song lyrics into the post!
First off...I LOVE the title of this post. Sheer perfection.
I have had many experiences along these lines. I will feel a certain weight and I will have to pray and listen and search for the reason. My kids think I'm psychic.
But never in a dream. My daughter does have dreams that lead to these types of experiences.
We are spiritual beings after all.
What a wonderful post!!!
I've had bad vibes about certain things but I've never had this particular type of thing happen.
Well, although I consider myself to be very perceptive and can usually tell things are going on with someone even when others don't notice, I don't have premonitions. I think it's so neat when people have those (like you).
I have this same thing going on - very frequently. I love your title. This song will always come into my mind everytime I have one of those feelings or dreams.
It seems strange to share such an intimate thing but your post really spoke to me.
My brother died in a motorcycle accident 14 years ago this past week. All that day I had an unexplainable feeling of distress and a terrible stomach ache. I couldn't place the feeling so I just attributed it to nerves over an audition. Looking back, though, I have always felt that somewhere deep inside I knew that I was about to suffer a profound loss.
Ever since then, I am very aware and whenever I feel that same feeling, I know that something is on its way.
Thanks for sharing. It's good to know that I am not alone in my experiences.
Oh yes, I get vibes for sure. Like I knew that my Grandpa had died even before I was told. I just had a feeling.
And I can usually sense if a friend is down.
I had a dream that my friend was pregnant and she was, then I had another dream that she had the baby even though it wasn't due, and she had, and I had the same dream with her second child when she had him.
Hey, stopping by again because you commented right above me at sits today!
I totally believe in such events.
The one that immediately came to mind for me was about 10 years ago when my parents were still traveling in their RV. They were all over the country at different times. This particular afternoon Paul and I were watching a movie sitting in the den. I had a thought about my folks who were traveling in TN, and thinking that someday there might be an accident or illness that would cause us to go get them. Nothing like that had ever happened and they were still pretty young and doing well.
That night my father called and from Paul's end of the conversation I knew something was up. At 3:30 that afternoon, exactly the time I had that thought, my father had fallen and broken his elbow. He was calling to see whether Paul could fly down and drive the RV back. He was able to drive them home, but that was a strange day.
My husband was adopted at birth in a closed adoption.
Back in the fall of 2005 he started seriously thinking about looking for his birth mom. At the same time, he and I were having some major difficulties in our marriage.
He found her early 2006 and the first thing she said was, "Honey, I've been thinking about you so much. This last fall and thanksgiving I felt the need to pray for you and thought about you every morning when I woke up, first thing."
Chills.
